Tuesday Tunes: Laura Mvula

Laura Mvula

Here is Naomi’s first pick for Tuesday Tunes and I have to say I saw this artist on Graham Norton a few weeks ago and was blown away. Naomi sent this stuff to me but will post under her own steam in the future. Welcome Naomi.

NaomiLaura Mvula is a British soul singer-songwriter from Birmingham. She has directed and been involved with gospel and community choirs as well as graduating from Birmingham Conservatoire, so she has some musical clout. Laura has already been nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2013 poll and shortlisted for the Critics’ Choice award at the Brits, not bad for a newcomer. I first heard the song ‘Green Garden’ a couple of months ago and it never fails to make me smile. The percussion and instruments are a dreamy mix and Laura’s voice is just perfection, it’s a great spring song. Her album ‘Sing To The Moon’ has just been released, and I’m looking forward to hearing what else Laura Mvula has to offer.

Check out her video below.

I can’t wait to hear what the rest of her album sounds like.
