Today’s recommendation is a band I first heard of last summer. Kodaline are four childhood friends that live minutes from each other in a small town in Ireland, and have been making music together since they were teenagers. They released a self-titled EP last year and another, ‘High Hopes’ a couple of weeks ago. I was lucky enough to see them play on a boat last Saturday with a friend.

Thekla is an old cargo ship docked in Bristol and it’s a great setting for an intimate show in the hold. The set was just over an hour long and we heard all the songs from the EPs as well as some new tracks from their forthcoming album in June. I was really impressed with their live sound, they were so tight as a band and they gave all their energy and passion into each song (bulging blood vessels were aplenty!). They did a great unplugged (no mikes) cover of Sam Cooke‘s ‘Bring It On Home To me‘. My top three tracks from the night were High Hopes, All I Want, and Pray.
Check out this video for ‘All I Want’, I love it:
Come back next week for more Tuesday tunes… Who is your current music muse? Got a song you haven’t been able to get out of your head? Let us know.
