BotA: Roll Call – X-Men / Wolverine and the X-Men

OK, guys, as we head towards the mutant event of the year we’re running down the countdown!  Today, I’m walking you through the main characters of Brian Wood’s X-cellent X-Men and Jason Aaron’s’ Wolverine and the X-Men…

Over the next few pages, I’ll be giving a brief run-down of the different characters in X-Men and Wolverine and the X-Men (and I’m also going to feature a couple of the All-New cast, who Loz mentioned yesterday but I want to go into more detail…).  I’ll be giving a brief bio, a ‘best guess’, but – and it’s a big ‘but’ – no spoilers, only my best guesses!

First, a quick summary:

All-New X-Men

A dying Hank McCoy, believing that the mutant race was falling into civil war, took desperate measures; he travelled to the past and recruited the five original X-Men, bringing them to the present day.  Since then, this team have struggled to understand the present-day, steadfastly refusing to return to their own time.  Kitty Pryde has acted as their mentor, but sadly they’ve lost Angel, who headed away from them to the pages of Uncanny X-Men.

Wolverine and the X-Men

Wolverine is a teacher.  Yeah, for real, that’s the premise of WatXM – Logan is a teacher, and this is the story of his school!

X-Men

A new series starring an all-female cast, X-Men features a ragtag bunch of powerful and experienced women of the X.

I’m going to ignore Iceman, Psylocke, Rogue, Storm, and the kids in WatXM – I simply have no idea where those particular characters will fit in…

So let’s get going…

Geek point here…technically Rachel is the daughter of Scott Summers and the Phoenix. Since even the Phoenix tricked itself into believing it was Jean you can consider Jean her mother…but technically she isn’t.

    1. Hmmm good catch – although to counter, the Phoenix based itself on Jean’s template, and didn’t Jean absorb all the associated memories / identities into herself in the Inferno arc? But yeah, my attempt to ‘geek’ my way out of it notwithstanding, you’re right 🙂
