Best of the
Here’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Many of you were upset with many of the choices that Marvel picked for their best of the X-Men post, so we at Hoo Mah Moos bring you the 50 best X-men YOU voted for in our poll last week. And, we won’t keep you waiting, you get our top 50 all in one MEGA post including 5 lil extras. Aint we sweet? Well let’s start with the extras and move on. Check below for your results.
This guy was the weakest of the weak with, let’s be honest, a crappy mutation. But, what he lacked in useful mutant chops, he later gained in sheer courage and as the Cuckoos’ stated, an indestructible skull.
This green blob of mystery has seen a lot of action, whether it’s his ability as a camera man, secret protector of the Jean Grey School, comic relief or way with the ladies, he’s earned a place on this list.
From his very first appearance, Fantomex knows how to make an entrance. Thief, Weapon, lover, illusionist, he’s a polarizing X-men you either love or hate.
52. Hope. Another polarizing character. This kid had it rough from the moment she was born, bless her, but now she’s fulfilled her supposed destiny in AvX, she can get on with doing something interesting. For Tom, Hope really shone in Gillen’s ‘Generation Hope’, as she wrestled with the destiny that had been chosen for her by fate.
51. Cloak. As X-characters go, he has to have the shortest membership of all but is popular enough to get votes over some others that we would have put on this list had we the votes. As with his precious Dagger, one of Tom’s favourite Cloak moments is in Maximum Carnage, as he seeks revenge for what he believes to be her death…
We start off our 50-1 countdown proper with Legion. 50 to 41
Why Legion? Legion of what? Crazy? I mean come on, anyone who talks to himself has gotta be a weirdo, and that’s not even getting to the hair. Oh how I miss hair. Not many X-Men can say they’re responsible for the creation of entire realities, but Legion can – he kicked off both the classic Age of Apocalypse and the understated Age of X.
Did he join the X-Men through his respect of Cyclops or just to get closer to Emma Frost? Either way, Namor is always one to throw himself into battle.
Lava Hot New Mutant who became an X-Man.
Good Girl gone bad, gone good, gone bad, gone good, gone bad, gone good? Omega has had a bad rap. She’s been someone’s puppet in one way or another since her conception. Let’s hope her luck is on the mend now she’s on Wood’s X-Men.
As mutant debut’s go, Lifeguard’s was awesome. Appearing in Extreme X-Men as a hopefully popular brother/sister act, Lifeguard became more than just a mutant but a mutant with Shi’ar ties. Stand out moment: Her deflecting bullets in a shopping mall as her powers manifest for the first time. Unforgettable, unlike her current status.
Yeah, Chamber has fans. Loz, has never wondered why apart from being a fellow Brit, but he did provide a nice contrast to the long-timers he was featured with. To Tom, Chamber’s role in Generation X was a reprise of the classic love interest trope in the fashion of Scott and Jean, but this time the answer to ‘will they, won’t they’ was – ‘won’t they’. That being said, as Generation X proved, he’s an explosive kisser.
She’s no longer a mutant, but just like Storm, that didn’t stop her being an ultimate leader and Badass. Just ask Loca…well you could if she wasn’t ahhh…. you know, dead.
Another New Mutant, turned X-Man. Although what the hell is he doing hanging with the Avengers these days? And just like the preceding choice, you need to ask those inferno babies, or Gladiator just how badass Cannonball really is.
Mutant inventor turned crazy guy who’s now running with Cable. Some of Loz’s favourite moments of his were during New Mutants when Magik went to forcibly make him pay for the X-Men’s death and then when he was a member of X-Factor; Forge is a whole lot more than Storm’s one-time paramour.
If Nightcrawler is the soul of the X-Men, Longshot is the heart, or one of them. He was one of three POV characters after Mutant massacre. He was the newbie, not only to the X-Men but to the human world. He was the innocence and dashing lead man in his own movie. Loz will always remember his lone stand against Sinister and Malice at the end of Inferno.
