Farewell to Jason Aaron

In 2001, Jason Aaron won a talent competition with a Wolverine short story – and his career has been tied to the X-Men ever since.  With last week’s release of Amazing X-Men #6, Aaron is bowing out of the X-Men corner of the Marvel Universe; he’ll still be focusing on Emma Frost as a key character in the up-and-coming summer event Original Sin, but beyond that his time with Marvel’s merry mutants is at an end.  Here are some of the highlights of the last few X-years…

Get Mystique (Wolverine #62-#65)

Wrong colour skin
Think something a tad more exotic, Logan!

Jason Aaron’s career as a fully-fledged Marvel writer really began with a single explosive plotline.  In a wonderfully dark arc, he explored the history between Wolverine and Mystique.  Logan’s task was to hunt Raven down, and he’d break any rules to do it.  The result was a brilliant Wolverine storyline, on that truly dug into the depths of Logan’s psyche, and came to a superb conclusion.

Don't mess with Mystique
You do NOT want to get on the wrong side of this lady!
