AMC’s popular horror TV show, The Walking Dead, is finally coming to its conclusion after 11 successful seasons on the air. Audiences will be saying goodbye to the long-running zombie-survival series after over a decade. The Walking Dead brought iconic zombies, a compelling story, ruthless characters, and the memorable Whisperers. The hit show has already spawned a number of spinoff series; 2015’s Fear the Walking Dead, 2020’s The Walking Dead: The World Beyond, and 2022’s Tales of the Walking Dead. The beloved The Walking Dead is set to end in November 2022 with “Rest in Peace,” but fans don’t have to bid farewell to their favorite characters for good just yet. With a new slate of spinoffs already in production, viewers will be reunited with many of the most popular survivors as soon as next year. The Walking Dead may have told its story, but the world and characters will live to tell new tales.

3/3 The Walking Dead: Dead City Stars Maggie And Negan In A Six-Part Limited Series

Set To Air: April 2023

To say that Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) are uneasy allies is an understatement. The villainous Negan stole many scenes throughout The Walking Dead. Once such scene was his brutal killing of Maggie’s beau, Glenn, which shocked audiences and made Negan and Maggie bitter enemies. However, time has passed since Glenn’s death at the beginning of Season 7, and the two have often been forced to work together to survive.

The antagonistic duo are teaming up again in a six-part limited series titled The Walking Dead: Dead City. The spin-off is set to premiere in April 2023. The spin-off was originally titled “Isle of Dead” and was confirmed in March 2022. Dead City will see Maggie and Negan explore a post-apocalyptic Manhattan in a time when the once highly-populated island has been cut off from the mainland. As a result, Maggie and Negan are left to uncover its secrets and survive the setting’s inevitable dangers.

2/3 Daryl Dixon Will See Daryl Head To France

Set To Air: 2023

Daryl Dixon, who was expertly portrayed by Norman Reedus, is one of The Walking Dead’s most beloved characters. Fans have relished in Daryls’ journey from a surly outsider to core member of the show’s survivors. Viewers will be pleased to hear that their favorite motorcycle-riding zombie killer will not only survive The Walking Dead’s final season, but he’ll also be starring in a spinoff series of his own. The spin-off was confirmed in September 2020 and is set to premiere sometime in 2023.

Not much is known about Daryl Dixon except that it will be set in Paris, and Daryl’s relocation across the Atlantic is seemingly against his will. He’ll likely struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic France and will have to embark on another captivating character journey. This spin-off was originally set to star Carol (Melissa McBride), but the actor dropped out after being unable to relocate to Europe. Filming for Daryl Dixon began in October 2022, so fans can start getting excited about seeing their favorite crossbow-user return to the small screen.

1/3 Rick And Michonne Are Making Their Walking Dead Comeback In An Untitled Series

Set To Air: 2023

Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was the original protagonist of The Walking Dead and acted as the leader of the show’s core group of survivors. For years, audiences watched him suffer loss, battle enemies both living and dead, and eventually find love with fellow survivor, Michonne (Danai Gurira). The katana-wielding Michonne quickly became a popular character after her debut in The Walking Dead’s third season.

Soon enough, Michonne became a leading member of the cast. However, both actors went on to leave the AMC series. Lincoln departed the series in Season 9 to spend more time with his family, and Gurira left in Season 10 to focus on other work. Fans will be excited to learn that Gurira and Lincoln will be making their triumphant return in their own six-episode spinoff. Originally, Rick was planned to star in a series of AMC Original movies to extend his character journey, but it was confirmed in 2022 that the character would be featured in a TV series.

Slated to premiere sometime in 2023, the untitled series will follow Michonne and Rick as they continue their adventures and relationship in the zombie wastelands. Michonne and Rick’s spin-off is also said to be “an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world.” Gurira will serve as a writer for the series.
