Marvel’s Avengers Celebrates Ragnarök With New Thor Skin

  • Share

Marvel’s Avengers officially releases a “Roadworn” cosmetic inspired by Chris Hemsworth’s appearance as Thor in the 2017 MCU sequel, Thor: Ragnarok.

Marvel’s Avengers released a skin for Thor that precedes one of his most thrilling and traumatic adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The official Marvel’s Avengers Twitter shared a photo of the in-game skin. Described as a “Roadworn” outfit, it is heavily inspired by Thor’s early appearance in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. The God of Thunder looks nearly identical to his MCU counterpart with the signature blond mane, sleeveless leather armor and the crown of the defeated Surtur chained to his back. The “Roadworn” skin is now available in the Marvel’s Avengers Marketplace.

This minor throwback skin is a snapshot of Thor at the beginning of his third film solo film in the MCU, directed by Taika Waititi. Having been supposedly captured by Surtur, the hero listens to the fire giant monologue about their role in Ragnarök, the destruction of Asgard. Thor quickly flips the script by breaking the chains holding him and defeating the fire giant in epic fashion. In doing so, he believes that the foretold doom of his home has been avoided and returns to Asgard with the giant’s crown in tow. Unfortunately for Thor, Surtur would make good on their promise to destroy the realm of the gods as it was necessary for the defeat of the god’s tyrannical sister, Hela.

New Skins For Marvel’s Avengers

This cosmetic was released just a few days prior to another skin in Marvel’s Avengers, which featured Black Panther in heavy Vibranium armor. The extra-armored T’Challa is based on his appearance in Marvel Comics’ Black Panther #19 from 2005, by Reginald Hudlin and Scot George Eaton. A departure from the sleek look that MCU fans might be used to, the added protection was needed in a fight against Doctor Doom on his home turf of Latveria.

Marvel’s Avengers‘ T’Challa cosmetic was seen prior to its official release in a leak that also included Captain America and Ms. Marvel skins. The leaker, known as @mmmmmmmmiller on Twitter, has been an active and accurate source of information for the game’s upcoming releases. They most recently shared details on an MCU content bundle which may feature content from the three main Avengers films, Iron Man and Iron Man 2, Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther and Black Widow.

Suit up in Marvel’s Avengers, which is available now on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
