Wakanda Forever Includes a Tiny Ant-Man 3 Easter Egg

  • Share

A scene in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever contains an Easter egg that connects the movie to 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

While Black Panther: Wakanda Forever focuses on the eponymous kingdom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it also contained a small Easter egg linking it to the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

As shared by The Direct, the Easter egg appeared in a scene involving a CNN report about Wakanda featuring Anderson Cooper. During Cooper’s discussion about Wakanda, the news ticker below him can be seen reading, “Scott Lang continues tour in support of autobiography Look Out For The Little Guy.” This may tie into Quantumania, as the first trailer and D23 teaser hinted at both the book and Scott’s popularity.

While Quantumania will see the return of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, the sequel will also introduce Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror and several extradimensional variants of the character. Majors has compared the role to being a quarterback on a football team.

“The best thing about sports when you’re playing the point guard or the quarterback is, a good quarterback or point guard, they have amnesia,” Majors said in a recent interview. “They don’t remember the good plays, they don’t remember the bad plays, they just remember they got to play the game. So that’s how I am with these guys. I just play the script. Tell the story. That’s how it goes.” Majors later added that the role is a great way to look into himself, allowing him to find out how much of himself he can explore and share.

Additionally, the film will see Kathryn Newton take up the role of Scott’s daughter, Cassie Lang. Newton recently discussed her role as Ant-Man’s daughter and compared herself to Cassie, saying the character “is just trying to figure out how to be a good person and making a lot of mistakes.” Before making this comparison, Newton teased that Cassie would “[become] who she is” in Quantumania.

Quantumania Will Change the MCU Forever

While the movie will see the titular duo return to the silver screen, director Peyton Reed revealed in July that Quantumania will fundamentally change the MCU going forward. “The energy was great,” Reed said. “And yeah, kicking off Phase 5 is really exciting for us, because we’re the Ant-Man movies. It’s our third movie. It’s this trilogy now. But things happen in this movie that are going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe permanently. And it’s fun for us that Scott Lang is at the center of that change.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now in theaters. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opens in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.
