Netflix’s Warrior Nun Has No Promotion Budget

  • Share

Warrior Nun Season 2 clinches Netflix’s global top three in terms of viewership, despite the comic book show having no promotion budget.

During its first week in release, Warrior Nun Season 2 became Netflix’s third-most-watched series globally — an impressive feat, considering the fact that the streaming giant apparently didn’t spend any money advertising it.

“Thanks to everyone around the world for an amazing first week!” Warrior Nun creator Simon Barry wrote on Twitter, sharing a cast and crew photo as well. “[Warrior Nun] has been the #3 global show on [Netflix] with $0 spent on promotion. (Hopefully those savings are factored into the renewal decision) It’s because of YOU that we are trending and I am truly grateful.”

Netflix’s Warrior Nun is based on the comic book character Warrior Nun Areala, who was originally created by Ben Dunn, fist appearing in Antarctic Press’ Ninja High School #37, cover-dated March 1993. Dunn penned the first two Warrior Nun Areala solo series, as well as some subsequent installments, with numerous other creators contributing to the title over the years.
