Rent-a-Girlfriend’s Chizuru Goes on Real Life Date With Otaku

A fan took a life-sized figure of Rent-a-Girlfriend’s Chizuru on a date at an amusement park in Asakusa, with a photographer commemorating the event.

It’s the dream of every hardcore otaku to go on a date with their anime bias, so when one Rent-a-Girlfriend fan got the opportunity to date a life-sized Chizuru, he proudly shared the experience on Twitter.

As reported by Anime Senpai, Kodansha announced the manufacture of a life-sized Chizuru Mizuhara figurine about five months ago. To celebrate the announcement, the publishing company held a lottery that would allow one fan to spend a day with one of the figurines. True to their word, a fan named Keigo-san won the opportunity and detailed the date on social media, bragging about the once-in-a-lifetime event.

Rent-a-Girlfriend fan Keigo-san on a date with a life-sized figure of Rent-a-Girlfriend's Chizuru

Keigo-san posted a photo of himself on a date at Asakusa Hanayashiki Amusement Park with the sensitive and thoughtful Chizuru. He also shared his thoughts on Twitter: “Today I had a date with Mizuhara at the Asakusa Hanayashiki! The sense of closeness was so nice! We were accompanied by a professional photographer and I was able to chat with members of the production, which made for a great day. A huge thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to make this day possible. I will continue to work hard as a Kanojo fan, Okarishimasu (Chizuru’s number one)!”

A Professional Photographer Captured Their Date

He explained that a professional photographer accompanied them to commemorate their date, making it all the more special by considering every factor from the situation to the angle to ensure they captured every precious moment with meticulous precision. Keigo even found himself thinking, “Wow! This looks like a professional shoot.” In addition to the photographer, the personal maker of the life-sized Chizuru figure was also there, as well as those responsible for the Rent-a-Girlfriend series, who told Keigo-san how much they love the franchise.

Rent-a-Girlfriend’s Creator Took Chizuru Out, Too

Although Keigo-san is the first, and possibly only, fan to go on an official date with Chizuru, Rent-a-Girlfriend‘s creator Reiji Miyajima also took his best girl out. The author tweeted a picture of the life-sized doll with a caption explaining that they went on a date. Despite being married with a child, Miyajima expresses his possessiveness for his characters, particularly Chizuru, often drawing her in various poses against real-life settings, including in the shower.

Despite a lackluster second season, criticized for falling short as an anime series compared to the source material, the Rent-a-Girlfriend anime received the green light for a third season. The production company behind the anime will reveal more about Season 3 of Rent-a-Girlfriend at a special event in March 2023.

Rent-a-Girlfriend is published in English through Kodansha USA and is available through most booksellers, including Barnes & Noble and RightStufAnime.
